Fill in the short form below with your name, email and a sentence about your reading tastes. We do not ask for a genre quiz or a personality test — just a genuine line about what excites you on a bookshelf. This helps us match you with a circle that suits your pace and preferences.

Receive your welcome parcel

Within three days you will get an email with your reading calendar, a link to the private discussion board and an optional postal invite to our quarterly in-person gathering at our Limerick space. Every new member also receives a curated reading list for the current season so you can catch up at your own speed.

Read, reflect, share

Each month centres around one book. We break it into weekly portions so nobody feels rushed. Discussions happen on the board, through voice notes, or at our live meet-ups. There is no pressure to finish — half-read opinions are just as welcome as fully formed essays. The point is the conversation, not the performance.

Every member gets a vote in our seasonal selection process. Nominate a title, second someone else's suggestion, or simply cast your vote when the shortlist goes live. The community decides — we just keep the shelves stocked and the tea brewing.

Questions we hear often

Is there a membership fee for the book club?
No. Book Club Sphere is free to join. We sustain ourselves through optional donations, local partnerships with independent bookshops and a small merch line. You will never be asked to pay to participate in discussions or access the reading calendar.
Do I need to live in Limerick to take part?
Not at all. While our physical meet-ups happen in Limerick, the vast majority of our community engages online. We have members across Ireland, the UK and further afield. The discussion board and voice-note channels are open around the clock, so time zones are never a barrier.
What if I cannot finish the book in time?
That is completely fine. We split each monthly book into weekly sections precisely so members can dip in and out. If life gets busy, you can catch the recap thread and still contribute meaningfully. Reading should feel like a pleasure, not a deadline.
Can I suggest a book for the group?
Absolutely. Every member can nominate one title per season. Nominations open at the start of each quarter, and the community votes on a shortlist of eight. The top four become our seasonal picks. We encourage diversity in genre, authorship and perspective.
How are the in-person gatherings organised?
Quarterly gatherings take place at our space near Domingo Well in Limerick. We share tea, biscuits and a loose agenda — usually a group discussion of the current book followed by an open mic for members who want to read a favourite passage aloud. Attendance is optional and always free.
What genres does the club cover?
We rotate through literary fiction, mystery and thriller, non-fiction (nature, history, memoir) and poetry. Occasionally we add a wildcard month for graphic novels, translated works or experimental writing. The idea is to gently stretch everyone's reading habits without forcing anyone out of their comfort zone.
